The National Eczema Society points out that fabric conditioners leave a residue on washed and rinsed items. It also notes that fragrance and other ingredients found in some conditioners can be problematic for people with eczema or sensitive skin.

That does not mean everyone needs to avoid fabric conditioner. Skin varies considerably from person to person. But it does raise an interesting question
